Harvard-Westlake (Calif.) cross country coach Tim Sharpe, also a track and field assistant for the Wolverines in addition to being a founder of L.A. Swim Club, who has guided male and female track athletes to individual state titles, along with coaching state individual and team champions in girls cross country, along with a boys cross country state team runner-up during his 15 years at the school, joins DyeStat editor Erik Boal to discuss the launch of his own podcast "Sharpe's Corner" as well as other platforms on his own YouTube channel, including "Sharpe Takes" and "Coffee with Coach Sharpe." He reflects on the first episode of "Sharpe's Corner" with former JSerra and current Santa Margarita coach Marty Dugard, also an accomplished author, and also looks ahead to his next recording with former Great Oak coach Doug Soles. Sharpe also reveals his guest for the April 18 episode of "Coffee with Coach Sharpe" as former UC Santa Barbara swimming standout and Moroccan athlete Yoessef Tibazi and speaking about setting big goals and pursuing those aspirations. He explains his desire to not only spotlight track and field and cross country coaches as his future guests, but also fellow Harvard-Westlake coaches as well. Sharpe revisits his time coaching with current USC assistant Quincy Watts, former UCLA and current USC assistant Joanna Hayes, along with Felix Sanchez, a USC graduate and Olympic gold medalist for the Dominican Republic, all members of the Wolverines' 2011 coaching staff. He reminisces about the 2011 season and the 10-year anniversary of Amy Weissenbach running the National Federation High School record 2:02.04 in the girls 800 meters at the California state meet, along with Cami Chapus, K.C. Cord, Lauren Hansson and Weissenbach running a national record 11:22.23 in the distance medley at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor event in Greensboro, N.C. Sharpe also looks back on Chapus and Weissenbach being selected to represent the United States at the World Youth Championships in Lille, France, along with Weissenbach competing in the 2012 Olympic Trials following her high school graduation. He recaps the past year for both the Harvard-Westlake track and field and cross country programs, and analyzes the Wolverines' prospects to capture Southern Section Division 3 titles in June.
